Ellie has been taking piano lessons since October after about a year of asking. She was pleasantly surprised when her teacher mentioned a recital a few weeks ago. Getting ready, he has been telling her what to expect, trying to ease her mind. He said there would only be a few people there, he has 11 students and their parents would be watching. He also mentioned that her performance would be in a small room with the piano level with the audience. He thought he was making her less nervous, but Ellie wanted a stage! I don’t know whose child she is! Anyway, we get to the Fine Arts building on ISU campus and he says there’s been a change in venue. She got to play in an auditorium with a big stage and she was thrilled! Look at the size of that piano!
She was the first to play, being his youngest student, and played her two pieces she had memorized perfectly. After getting off stage, she skipped back to her chair. We celebrated with cookies and she insists on going through the summer instead of starting lessons back up in the fall.
